Features of the High Density Honeycomb Core Optical Breadboard

The purpose of optical breadboards is to reduce or eliminate vibrations from the ambient background or from moving parts of experiments set up on the table top. While tabetops used to be constructed from concrete, granite  and many other materials in attempts to improve the overall performance while maintaining weight at an acceptable level to ensure good mobility, it was eventually decided that the optimal performance was achieved by having a structure of top and bottom skins made up of hoghly conductive stainless steel (430) with a clad metal honeycomb and sealed cups sandwiched in between.

The High Density Honeycomb Core Optical Breadboard is extremely user-friendly for mounting of experimental equipment. Below shows how each feature of the breadboard contributes to its overall performance in being user-friendly and fulfiling the purpose of minimizing vibrations.

430 Stainless Steel  

The stainless steel material that form the top and bottom skin of the breadboard prevents the breadboard from getting rusty. 

Sealed Cups

The sealed cups are made of stretching aluminium and they can effectively eeliminate synchronized vibrations within the breadboard, which may be detrimental to the results of experiments and measurements. Another advantage is the prevention of dusts, liquids that may contaminate the breadboard if they were to drip inside the core of breadboards.
