Stradus® Violet / Ultra Violet Laser Diode Modules

The Stradus® Violet (405nm, 415nm and 420nm) and UV (375nm and 395nm) modules are all direct diode, TEM00 lasers that offer the highest possible optical power and lowest noise available today. The violet and ultra-violet lasers benefit greatly from the patented sealed optics module that ensures long term power stability and longer life diode operation. The short term power stability is enhanced through the use of the external photo-detector – which is also protected from the outside environment by being inside the sealed optical module.

The long term power stability is enhanced through the use of the sealed optics module – ensuring that any contaminants that are generated from the electronics do not affect the optics. Life test data (data available upon request) on Stradus® lasers confirm over 50,000 hours of operation. All Stradus® lasers can be operated directly by supplying 12 volts of DC power to the miniature D-connector on the rear of Stradus® laser head. 

A user can connect a PC via the RS-232 connector on the Remote Control Box, or connect a PC directly to the Stradus® laser head via a USB cable to the mini-USB connector on the Stradus® laser head. The user, through the use of any PC, can interface to the Stradus® laser through the user interface software that is supplied with each standard Stradus® Laser.

The Stradus® laser displays exceptional power stability of greater than 0.5% over a 24 hour period. This power stability is due to the patented design of the optics module inside the Stradus® laser. 

The 405nm & 488nm lasers has been tested with over 40,000 hours of operational data collected with negligible change in diode current, producing unprecendented results in the diode laser module industry, with innovative Vortran design and manufacturing.

The circuitry is also designed to be immune from damage due to exposure of static electricity(laser diodes are highly susceptible to ESD damage). The laser has also been designed and tested to ESD levels exceeding 20KV.

The User Interface Software (supplied with each standard laser) is an interactive display allowing the user to monitor and control the laser through a computer interface.


The user can turn the laser on/off, set power output levels, and enable/disable modulation features. The display easily shows the three key paramters in graphical form (Output Power, Diode Current, and Diode and Base Plate Temperature). 


By setting a predetermined "safe" value, the grahical display can use color alerts(yellow for caution and red for dangerous levels) for key parameters.
