FWR Motorized filter wheels
The SIMTRUM's FWR Series devices are computer-controlled, motorized filter wheels with high speed filter change capabilities, a low profile, and interchangeable filter holders. Each filter wheel is sold with one included filter holder (FH0625 for 10 x 25 mm filter positions or FH0632 for 7 x 32 mm filter positions).

Initial Set-up
Mounting the Device

To mount the FWR filter wheel to an optical breadboard, a single optic post can be used as shown. Alternatively, using the AP134 post mounts, the device can be mounted to two posts either horizontally or vertically as shown.

Exchanging Filter Holders

Remove the FWR housing lid using a 2.5mm hex key to remove the four cover screws.

Use the 2.5mm hex key to remove the three screws holding the filter holder and slide the holder upwards and out of the case.

Place the new filter holder in position, ensuring that the two dowel pins and three screw holes line up. Tighten the three M3 screws firmly to hold the new wheel in place and prevent the screws from loosening during operation. Re-install the housing lid. If the new holder fits filters of a different size, ensure the correct apertures are open and the covers are installed on the unused aperture size.

To update the settings for the FWR filter wheel for your newly installed filter holder, send the tools detectholder command to automatically configure the device. You can also manually set the filter holder ID by sending set filter.holderid (T:81) with the ID value for your installed wheel.


X-MCC Multi-axis universal motor controllers

User Manual:

 

Note:SIMTRUM motorized stages feature built-in controllers and support daisy-chaining multiple devices(you can choose whether to additionally configure an X-MCC controller), enabling them to share a single power supply and a single data connection to the computer, simplifying setup and management.

Universal drive allows control of 1, 2, 3, or 4 axes, including bipolar stepper motors, linear motors, or voice coil motors with up to 6 Arms (10 A peak) per phase.

Allows different control modes, including independent axis control with trapezoidal velocity profiles or interpolated multi-axis control with line, arc, or circle primitives.

Multiple communications options: Ethernet, USB, and RS-232.

Designed for easy mounting to panels, breadboards, lab benches, and enclosures.

Axes can be locked together to move simultaneously as if they were a single axis, carrying out all motion in parallel.

The X-MCC series is compatible with all of motorized stages products. When daisy-chained with several units, the X-MCC can also share a single power supply with multiple motorized stages products.



Initial Set-up

  1. 1.Connect peripheral(s) to the desired axes of your X-MCC, while unpowered.
  2. 2.Daisy chain all integrated devices and controllers together using the RS-232 "Prev" and "Next" connectors .
  3. 3.Next, supply power to one or more devices. Many products share power through the daisy-chain cables. The green power indicator on each should light up.
  4. 4.Download and install Launcher. Start Launcher.
  5. 5.Create a New Connection and select the communications port the first controller is connected to.
  6. 6.If multiple devices are detected and there are conflicting device numbers, Launcher will renumber them or you can renumber them as desired. The first device in the chain (closest to the computer) will become Device 1, the next will become Device 2, and so on.
  7. 7.When the communication port is open, Launcher's "My Connections" page will indicate the connection status of each axis with a message suggesting what action may be needed.
  8. 8.Once a peripheral has been activated, either press the Home icon in Launcher's "Basic Movement" app or turn a knob on the X-MCC to move the peripheral associated with that axis. Most positioners will only move at reduced speed in one direction until they reach a home sensor at one limit of travel. Then they will move in both directions over full travel.

    Dicators

    Green (Device) - Power

    • On: Controller is operational.
    • Blinking twice per second: The power supply voltage or controller temperature is out of range.

    Red (Device) - System Error

    • On/blinking: An error has occurred. Please contact Technical Support.

    Yellow (Device) - Communication

    • On: Data is being transferred.
    • Blinking twice per second: Packet corruption has occurred for ASCII commands sent with a checksum.

    Yellow (Axis) - Axis Status

    • On: Peripheral positioner is moving.
    • Blinking: Axis is under manual control via the knob (in Velocity mode). The blinking rate is proportional to movement speed.
    • Fading in and out every 2 seconds: A connected autodetect peripheral is awaiting activation.

    Blue (Axis) - Axis Warning/Error

    • Solid: Peripheral is deactivated.
    • Blinking twice per second: Driver is disabled due to over-temperature, out-of-range voltage or other driver fault; due to user request; or due to E-Stop.This will also occur briefly when a peripheral is plugged back into the axis after being unplugged or on power-up as device initializes.
    • On briefly, during a move: The axis is slipping.
    • Blinking once every 2 seconds: The axis has stalled and stopped.
    • Burst of 2 flashes every 1 second: The stationary axis has been forced out of position.
    • Burst of 5 flashes every 2 seconds: The encoder has encountered a read error and raised the FQ or FA Warning Flag.
    • Fading in and out slowly: A peripheral axis is parked.
