Single-Channel Superluminescent Diode Source

Integrated Spectral Bench (ISB1)




ISB is a broadband light source that includes a single SLED. Ten spectral coverage ranges are available for selection.

The Single-SLED Integrated Spectral Bench (ISB1) product is a compact Superluminescent Diode (SLED) solution that employs high-performance Optical Spectral Engine (OSE) module. The ISB1 is a broadband light source that operates in the near infrared range. It is a turn-key product that can easily be integrated into existing devices that require light power. The Single-SLED ISB1 includes an integrated isolator and a proprietary driver and controller, each of which enable the light power to easily be adjusted. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) with a USB, RS232 or Ethernet connection allows for external monitoring and adjustment capabilities.


The Single-SLED ISB1’s light output is powered by a standard FC/APC connector (FC/PC or SMA available upon request). The central wavelength of the light-output ranges from 1300nm to 1680nm, thereby delivering high-power densities across the spectral range of the SLED.

Multi-Channel Superluminescent Diode Light Source (Multi-SLED)

Multi-SLED® (superluminescent diode) OSE2 is a compact broadband light source that operates in the near-infrared region. The product itself is a 32-pin butterfly package that uses a set of superluminescent diodes, one monitor diode for each SLED (enabling better power control and monitoring capabilities), a thermoelectric cooler (TEC), an integrated isolator, and a spectral stitching design to provide overlapping spectral coverage. The Multi-SLED can be configured with up to six light sources. The OSE2 offers spectral coverage from 1265nm to 1725nm, with up to 40mW of optical power. This product enables stable power and center-wavelength performance over time, and steady optical performance over a wide spectrum of wavelengths. A proprietary spectral stitching technique across the spectral range. The OSE2 is compact and easy to use, making it an appropriate fit for many different types of manufactured assemblies requiring light power. The Multi-SLED uses Luxmux's spectral stitching technique of integrating multiple wavelengths into a single broad spectrum, designed for optimum coupling efficiency. These compact, high-bandwidth modules provide the optimum power and highest optical density bandwidth in a single fiber system in the industry. The Multi-SLED product lines can be spectrally tailored to suit specific application needs. This provides exceptional flexibility and usability, making these sources ideal for the applications included below:

   • Bandwidth FWHM from 100nm to 460nm

   • Spectral coverage from 1265nm to 1725nm

   • Each SLED comes with a built-in independent monitor photodiode 

     and one common thermoelectric cooler (TEC) for all SLEDs

   

   • Between two and six superluminescent diodes (SLEDs) in a

     single unit

   • All SLEDs can be run from 0-100% of maximum rating

   • Fiber-coupled output power from 12mW to 40mW, Free Space output 

     power from 35mW to 130mW

   • Bandwidth FWHM from 100nm to 460nm

   • Spectral coverage from 1265nm to 1725nm

   • Each SLED comes with a built-in independent monitor photodiode 

     and one common thermoelectric cooler (TEC) for all SLEDs


   Differences in features

   • Light output: AR Coated Sapphire Window

   • Internally optimized for maximum coupling efficiency

     with PM1550-XP Fiber or PM1300-XP

     automation

   • Multiple communication interfaces: USB, RS-232, Ethernet
