With the appropriate detectors, filters form basic wavelength selective detection
systems.A filter spectrometer posesses simplisitic design, high signal to noise ration, low cost and high throughput. A rotatable filter wheel allows multiple fibers to be mounted and sqeuentially selected into the light path.
A combination of filters in the light path that has characteristic transmission curve generates variable pass bands. Equipping with stepping motors and computer interfaces allows the filter wheels to be automated and perform programmed sequences. Applications of filter wheels includes atomic spectrometry, environmental monitoring, illuminators, laser spectroscopy and etc.
