Visible Single-Photon Detector (Peak QE~500nm) | SIMTRUM Photonics Store

Visible Single-Photon Detector (Peak QE~500nm)

The ID100 series consists of compact and affordable single-photon detector modules with best-in-class timing resolution and state-of-the-art dark count rate based on a reliable silicon avalanche photodiode sensitive in the visible spectral range: 350-900 nm.

Varying Detector Size for Free Space and Fiber Applications

The ID100 series detectors come as:

-free-space modules, the ID100-20 and  ID100- 50 with 20 μm and 50 μm photosensitive area, respectively

-fibre-coupled modules, the ID100-SMF20, ID100- MMF50 and the ID100-MMF100 coming with a standard FC/PC optical input.

The modules are available in four dark count grades

The grades are educational (EDU), regular (REG), standard (STD) and ultra-low-noise (ULN), matching your budget to the perfromance required.

With a timing resolution as low as 40 ps and a remarkably short dead time of 45 ns, these modules outperform existing commercial detectors in all applications requiring single-photon detection with high timing accuracy and stability up to a count rate of 20 MHz.

● 350-900nm

● Timing resolution 40ps

● Low dead time 45 ns

● Small IRF shift at high count rates

● Peak photon dtector at 500nm

● Active area diameter of 20um or 50um

● Free space or fiber coupling

General Time Correlated Single Photon Counting(TCSPC) Guide

There   are several techniques for studying photoluminescence lifetime. Among them,Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) is the most common technique for fluorescence lifetime measurements. It allows to measures fluorescence   decay time from 10sps to a few hundred nanoseconds producing a wealth of   information of the sample. This application note will discuss the basics of   luminescence, its application in the spectroscopy and microscopy, TCSPC setup   and necessary components in detail.

Fluorescence and luminescence detection

Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging microscopy (FILM) is an   imaging technique which is based on the differences in the exponential decay   rate of the fluorophore from a sample. This technique has been widely used to   quantify froster resonance energy transfer (FRET) in cells and to acquire   information about populations of interacting molecules. FILM is a highly   sensitive technique for recording very weak signals with picosecond   resolution with high precision. It is independent of fluorophore   concentration, excitation intensity and noise.

Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS)

DLS is a non invasive technique and it is well established for measuring the size of molecules and particles in the submicron region. It can measure particle sizes of 1nm to 1/10 of the wavelength of the light with ± 1% precision ± by taking only 1-2 minutes to get the results. It allows for low sample volumes (as low as 2 uL) and straightforward sample preparation at modest development cost. An overview of the DLS experiment is by measuring the auto-correlation measurements and plotting an intensity correlation function(ICF) with time.
